MIFA2020

 MIFA, 2020

Back in 2018, I had an idea to illustrate all 254 players missing from the Official World Cup Sticker book. I asked the online design community to help out, and over 200 artists, illustrators and designers took part, each one illustrating one or two stickers missing from the book. The project was named MIFA: Missing in (the) Football Album. I collected all of the entries and sold them in a limited edition book, raising around £5,000 for charity. The project was repeated in 2019 for the Women’s World Cup, this time raising about £2500.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, football has been postponed and one of the many consequences of this is that the charity “Fans Supporting Foodbanks” are suffering. They collect food outside football stadiums on match days, with the initiative starting at Anfield and Goodison but now spreading further afield to other football clubs. They estimate that they raise between £5,000 to £10,000 per match day, so with games currently suspended they have a huge shortfall to make up over the next few months.

Thank you to everyone who took part, submitted an illustration, shared and RT'd the project and donated to the "Fans Supporting Foodbanks" charity. 684 stickers have now been submitted and we've also managed to raise over £3,200 for "Fans Supporting Foodbanks" thanks to your donations.”
